in South Africa, Stories of My Life

I may not look like an African…

But I was born & raised here, on African soil.

My parents, and their parents and so on were born here – living on this great continent.

My ancestors have been living and raising their families in Southern Africa for hundreds and hundreds of years.

As as an adult, even though I have traveled all around the world – I always felt it pulling on my heart.

I have love exploring other countries and continents, but my heart knows where my home is.

And  despite everything, I am Proudly South Africa.

I am an Africa.

This poem by Thabo Mbeki sums up my feels perfectly…
